About:

I'm Tony, a Taurus and an INTJ; when compared to the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles I'm apparently like "the grouchy one", aka Raphael. I'm an artist and a thinker, I go four wheeling in my jeep and backpacking and hiking in the mountains. I love mountain biking and for fun in my opinion you just can't beat a good day of paintball out in the woods. I've been riding motorcycles for a couple of years now and while I started out on the street, I found myself most at home in the dirt and recently picked up a 1999 Suzuki RM125 and a 2002 Yamaha XT225, also known as the Serow to further those two wheeled off road adventures.

I was born in Miami, though I spent a few years of my early childhood in Wisconsin and later on a year in Colorado when I was a rebellious 18 year old. Although I had packed all of my worldly possessions in my car and headed out into the world thinking who knows what, I ended up returning to Northern California after being gone for only a year. A few years later I made a move to Southern California and after a 6 year stint in the Los Angeles area, I returned to the SF East Bay of Northern California which is where I grew up and where I call home today. Just me, my beautiful wife and my crazy dog.

The day job:
I work in the IT field as a Technical Lead, something of a jack of all trades; throughout my career I've been a server admin, network engineer and even a teacher, though recently I've spent a lot of time getting really good at VBscripting.

Some notable accomplishments:
- I was responsible for the complete redesign of an entire five office WAN that spanned from San Francisco to San Diego, working closely with Cisco and Sprint vendors and reporting directly to the CIO. In addition to a full mesh ATM, my design incorporated a dynamic VPN failover system using local internet connections, providing my company with a virtually failsafe network and saving us from countless numbers of lost man hours, due to the older failing frame relay which I replaced.

- I created a web based remote access system via a website login, secured using 3DES Safeword tokens. Safeword Corporation launched an ad campaign featuring my innovative solution, including an interview with Tim McGurran the President and COO of Safeword Corporation which aired on SkyRadio for several months. I was also quotable in the ComputerWorld article "Beyond Passwords" by Debra Radcliff.

- In 2006 I wrote a VBscript that was used across the enterprise at my present employer to automatically configure one of our groupware applications that resides on nearly every PC, a process which was beforehand being done manually by IT technicians on an individual user and machine basis. That script alone saved us many thousands of man hours; I guess what makes that notable is that my role at that time was not that of a programmer and that I did it in my free time to help out with the upgrades being done by hand. 437 lines of clean coded goodness. (Though these days programming has indeed become a role of mine.)
